Ever find a restaurant that offers different menu specials every day? How about a restaurant that offers authentic multi-cuisines every week?
If not, then General Santos City’s local restaurant offers something as unique as the dishes they serve every day.
Fligo by Chef Minerva is a quiet and hidden restaurant in the streets of Catalino Cabe. Despite its hidden location, the talk of its amazing food never stopped spreading. Why?
Fligo by Chef Minerva offers different dishes from different cuisines daily. Every day is best with food at their place. Their famous day is Wednesday because they serve unlimited bucket of shrimps at a price of Php 350.
Sometimes it’s Pasta Mondays, Ramen Tuesdays, Mediterranean Thursdays, Mexican Fridays, Burger Saturdays and Brunch Sundays. But other times, their specialty changes depending on Chef Minerva’s theme for the day.
Chef Minerva Benzonan is the owner of Fligo by Chef Minerva. She cooks the food herself along with her amazing crew. She worked as a chef de partie in City of Dreams Manila and previously worked as an executive sous chef in Greenleaf Hotel.
Change is ever so constant for this restaurant. However, even if their special menu changes every day, one thing remains the same. Their dishes are heavenly delicious!
Expect that the restaurant is a bit pricey because it will take you to a trip around the world.
How to Get There
Fligo by Chef Minerva is quite hidden compared to other restaurants in Gensan. The location of Fligo by Chef Minerva is an extension of Gumile and Gukmaan Travellers Inn.
However, hidden, it is just a walk from Greenleaf Hotel and SM Mall of Gensan. You can ride a tricycle and pay for an eight-peso fare or just walk. It’s just around ten minutes walk from Greenleaf and SM Mall.
How Much Will You Spend
One person may spend at least Php300-500 to experience the versatile dishes of Fligo by Chef Minerva. Their unlimited bucket of shrimps is one of their famous signature dishes. So, prepare Php350 to enjoy the meal.
You’ll also enjoy the real S’mores roasting on fire experience at Fligo by Chef Minerva at Php 180. Make your childhood dreams come true.
I would recommend their Jambalaya as it has a rare and strong flavor. The chicken, shrimp and sausages go well together with the Jambalayan rice.
Jambalaya is a dish originating from Louisiana, USA. It’s like paella but has a curry like flavor. There are two styles of cooking jambalaya – Cajun style and Creole style. The third style is Chef Minerva style. Order the Jambalaya dish whenever you visit Fligo by Chef Minerva.
Their unlimited shrimps have two different flavors. They have alebar sauce and cajun sauce. The defending champion for the unlimited shrimps who is an unknown girl finished six bowls of shrimps.
The Voyager’s Experience
The place is pleasant and simple. It is quiet and is far from the city ruckus.
I love the interior as it features earth color. It looks simple but elegant. The place is clean and the crew who accommodated us are very warm and welcoming.
Their specialty for monday was pasta. I ordered shrimp aglio olio which was an oil based pasta with a buttery flavor and texture minced with lots of garlic and herbs that complimented well with the shrimp.
I am not a fan of oil based pasta but their Aglio Olio is something I would like to eat every monday.
Try their S’mores too. You’ll be amazed at the experience of actual roasting of marshmallows. Their marshmallows are home made too. It tastes like cotton candy.
The serving size for one dish is small though. It is also a wee bit pricey.
Their unlimited shrimps are amazing, too. My favorite sauce is alebar sauce.
This is great for dates if you want to wow someone. I won’t suggest this if you’re short on money. I don’t want you to deprive yourself from the greatness of the food they offer.
If you have the money, your visit at Fligo by Chef Minerva is worth it despite its serving size. The flavor will compensate for everything.
