The Voyaging Accountant

I created this blog a while ago in June 2017. At that time, I was a struggling professional who was out and about to discover the world and what it can offer.

As I struggled to find my identity in the business world, I met someone who was a co-founder of, a renowned Cebu travel blog. It was such an inspiration to meet Ram Mancelita because he loved what he does despite having to work and maintain a career. I realized that I want to be as passionate as him and to have something to look forward to outside the corners of the office.

I knew that I loved writing ever since I was in high school and somehow if you’re working as an accountant, there will be little to no opportunity to express your passion. After a lot of introspection, I realized that no matter where I am or what I do, my passion for writing always oozes out. From the way I write my e-mails to the caption of my social media posts, it’s always been there.

So by the beginning of June 2017, I decided to write a blog about the restaurants and places I’ve been to in Mindanao. By that time, I got the support of my family and friends and blogging started to became part of my life.

I know that I don’t have a specific niche, unlike other bloggers who knows what they do and are able to monetize their literary art. For a long time, my mindset was like that too. I needed to find a niche. Gain followers. Build an audience. Monetize.

By the end of summer 2019, I got burned out from work and from struggling to become known as a blogger and ended up having to succumb to a long hiatus.

I realized that I’d like to keep my blog as authentic and as real as it is. My niche is my life. I am an unimportant person, a drop in a limitless ocean. However, what I can offer are stories, advice, opinions, and guide.

“My life amounts to no more than one drop in a limitless ocean. Yet what is any ocean, but a multitude of drops?”
